Third Grade

Welcome to third grade. In third grade here at Old Pointe, we work hard and have fun learning!  The third-grade curriculum is based on our South Carolina State Standards. 

SOCIAL STUDIES will be an exploration of world geography. Much of the SCIENCE curriculum incorporates investigative research through the use of science kits. Science workbooks will be used as they observe, investigate, record, and reflect on daily activities.  In MATH your child’s knowledge of addition, subtraction, and place value will be extended. We will work to learn our multiplication and division facts and extend their knowledge of solving multi-step word problems.  We will also expand our knowledge in geometry, measurement, algebra, and data analysis and probability. In LANGUAGE we will work on word study/vocabulary; comprehension; writing (narrative, descriptive, informational, and research); cursive; keyboarding; listening and speaking skills.
