Angie Waldrop - Reading Coach
Mrs. Angie Waldrop is our Literacy Coach. The 2025-2026 School year is her 25th year in education and her fourth year at Old Pointe Elementary School. She began her career in 2001 teaching sixth grade in York District One at Hickory Grove Elementary School. She spent the next 18 years at Lewisville Middle School in Chester County, SC (10 years as an English teacher and 8 years as a literacy coach). Her degrees include a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (Eastern Illinois University), a master's degree in Educational Leadership/Administration (Winthrop University), and a master's degree in Literacy (Winthrop University).
Waldrop grew up in the small East Central Illinois town of Danville with her parents and three sibilings. After graduating college she moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina. In 2007, she married her husband, Jay, and became stepmom to her daughter, Victoria. She and her husband live in the Old Pointe Elementary community with their two dogs (Hyperbole - Perbie and Odin -the Dog of War-Protector of Heroes). Mrs. Waldrop is a proud "Grangie" to her two year old grandson, Lain, who lives with his parents in Tennessee.
In her spare time, you will find Mrs. Waldrop reading, swimming, relaxing in the hot tub, making jewelry, singing karaoke, or spending time with family and friends.
