Laurel Hilton- Art

Email: LCHilton@rhmail.org

As a product of Rock Hill schools (Oakdale, Castle Heights, and Rock Hill High) as well as Winthrop, I am deeply rooted in this community. I’ve known from an early age that teaching art was my calling, and it remains my passion over 25 years later… 20+ of them here at Old Pointe. My goal is that art class provides all learners with a creative, expressive outlet and contributes to each one’s well-rounded education. What a blessing to work with students throughout their Old Pointe experience, watching them grow and bloom, but oh-the-amazement when they come full circle and check back in with me years later to share hugs, highlights, and successes. I don’t expect every little artist that crosses my path to become a professional artist, but I hope that some aspect of art (problem-solving, creative thinking, personal style,, attention to detail, individual- as well as collaborative work, process, expression, appreciating/respecting differences, and finding satisfaction in a job well done… to name a few) enhances his/her life.

Outside of school, you can find me enjoying life with my husband, our 2 sons, and our 2 spoiled rotten dogs. I enjoy spending time in nature- whether in my garden or traveling to far off places, with my family (friends who are as close as family), or in my home studio sewing or working with stained glass. Above all, I love Jesus.
