Fourth Grade

Welcome to Fourth Grade. Fourth Grade is an exciting year full of growth and new discoveries! We build on what students learned in Third Grade and take their skills to the next level.

Writing Workshop: Students refine their ability to craft strong personal narratives, develop informational essays, and write persuasive opinion pieces with clear reasons and evidence.

Reading Workshop: Students focus is on reading deeply—students analyze characters, themes, and nonfiction texts while supporting their ideas with text evidence.

Math Workshop: Students explore multi-digit multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, and geometry, while also learning to solve multi-step word problems and explain their reasoning. 

Social Studies: Students will focus on South Carolina history, from Native American tribes and early European exploration to the state’s role in the Revolutionary War and beyond.

Science: Students investigate weather, landforms, ecosystems, animal adaptations, and electricity, building strong inquiry skills through hands-on experiments and observations.

The fourth grade team welcomes you and your child this year. It will be a year filled with engaging learning of exploration and new discoveries.
