Laura Leverington

I am a late bloomer in the public education arena, only just officially joining Old Pointe Elementary School staff as a teaching assistant in the UP1 SPED class in 2025. I grew up in New Jersey, but have spent much more time in the Carolinas since graduating from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton) in 1986. I earned my bachelors degree in Mathematics, with minors in computer science and French. I spent about a decade working technical roles for N.C. Emergency Management, during which time my son was born (he is now 34, and he and his family live in Texas). I spent another 20 years in data analysis roles supporting U.S. Navy technology infrastructure, finishing my final 3 years here in York County after relocating in 2019. I love kids, and I love animals (of all kinds!), so in my "off hours" I enjoy playing with my cats, serving as mentor at an equine therapy ranch in Clover, and pet sitting. I have to say that I am thrilled (and proud) to be part of the Old Pointe faculty where not only is each student's education important, but their health and well-being are equally important. I look forward to getting to know more of the students and their families in the coming months!
